Spine Tumors

Many types of tumors can occur in the spinal column outside of the spinal cord.

Examples: metastasis (cancer in other parts of the body that can spread to the spine), meningioma, schwannoma, neurofibroma, osteosarcoma, lymphoma

Some tumors can be benign and be observed with regular imaging.

Some tumors can be treated with needle biopsy and chemo/radiation alone.

Some tumors grow to compress the spinal cord and nerves causing symptoms and can require surgery. Depending on the location, it can cause symptoms such as back pain, weakness, numbness, or bowel/bladder issues.
