Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF)

This procedure involves removing the damaged disc between two vertebrae in your lower back and then inserting a spacer or graft into the empty disc space to allow the bones to grow together over time. This is the “fusion”.

The transforaminal trajectory allows less tissue and muscle disruption.

Pedicle screws are also placed in the bone and the construct is held together with rods.

Minimally invasive TLIFs and posterior instrumentation/fusion are options when appropriate.
